Privacy Policy for Eddie

Eddie is a local AI assistant for iPhone and iPad developed by Nicolò Campagnoli. This policy explains what information the app handles, where it is processed, and the limited situations in which the app connects to an external service.

Summary

Eddie does not require an account and does not use advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics. Chat prompts, model responses, translations, usage statistics, profiles, reusable prompts, settings, and knowledge bases are processed and stored on your device. They are not sent to the developer or to a cloud AI service.

Information Stored on Your Device

Eddie may store chats, generated responses, selected images, imported documents and webpage text, knowledge-base indexes, custom prompts and profiles, app settings, local usage statistics, benchmark results, and downloaded AI model files. This information remains in the app's local storage or its private app-group container so Eddie and its share extension can provide the features you choose to use.

AI Processing

Chat, translation, image understanding, document processing, knowledge search, and response generation run through AI models on your device. Eddie does not send your prompts, images, documents, knowledge bases, or generated answers to the developer, Hugging Face, or another cloud inference provider.

Photos, Documents, and Shared Content

Eddie only receives photos and files that you explicitly select through Apple's system pickers or share with the app. Selected content is used for the action you request and may be retained locally in a chat or knowledge base until you delete it. Eddie does not scan your photo library, files, or content from other apps without your action.

Model Downloads

AI models are not bundled with the app. When you choose to download or verify a model, Eddie connects directly to Hugging Face to retrieve the selected model files and metadata. Hugging Face may receive standard network information such as your IP address and the requested file under its own privacy policy. Your chats and other private app content are not included in these requests.

Webpage Imports

If you ask Eddie to import a webpage into a knowledge base, the app connects directly to the URL you provide and downloads its readable text. The website operator may receive standard network information such as your IP address and browser-level request metadata under that website's privacy policy. The extracted text is stored and processed locally by Eddie.

Workspace Export and Sharing

You can export your Eddie workspace or share individual content using Apple's system share controls. Exports are readable, unencrypted JSON files and are handled according to the destination you choose. Eddie does not upload an export automatically. Copies saved outside Eddie are not removed when you delete the original content from the app.

Data Collection, Analytics, and Advertising

The developer does not collect, receive, sell, or share your app content or usage data. Eddie contains no advertising SDK, tracking SDK, or third-party analytics SDK. Apple may separately process App Store transactions and optional diagnostics according to Apple's Privacy Policy and your device settings.

Data Retention and Deletion

Local information remains on your device until you delete it in Eddie or remove the app. Settings includes controls for deleting downloaded models, chat history, and knowledge bases. You can also remove individual chats, prompts, profiles, and sources. Deleting the app removes its local container subject to Apple's device and backup behavior; files you previously exported must be deleted from their chosen destination separately.

Support Communications

If you email the developer for support, the developer receives the address, message, and attachments you choose to send. That information is used only to respond to your request, maintain necessary support records, and meet legal obligations. Do not include private chats, documents, or other sensitive content unless it is necessary for your request.

Children's Privacy

Eddie is a general-purpose productivity app and is not directed specifically to children. The developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.

Security

Eddie uses iOS storage protections and keeps private workspace data inside the app's containers. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so protect access to your device and take care when exporting or sharing content.

Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated when Eddie's features or data practices change. The effective date above identifies the latest published version.
